A Shout Out From Edge

Hey guys, be sure to pick up the May issue of Edge, Europe’s leading videogame magazine. This month’s cover story is a piece on the future of gaming, focusing on the tech and trends that will shape our industry in the years to come.

We’re thrilled that Nokia’s gaming program was included, represented by Pocket Kingdom producer Scott Foe. He was included alongside the likes of Gabe Newell and Chris Hecker in a sidebar called “People Power.”

Here’s a bit from the Edge piece: “Foe’s Pocket Kingdom was the only
N-Gage title to really define new gaming territory. Now at work on a follow-up project, he’s in a unique position to blow apart expectations of mobile gaming up a real new frontier.”

Nokia Video Manager Available for Download

Nokia has released the Video Manager as a free download for selected Series 60 phones. With it, you can more easily manage and transfer videos from your PC to your Nokia mobile device. It is designed to convert your videos to the optimal format for mobiles, too.

The application works with PC Suite and requires the latest version of that software to be installed in order to be effective.

Officially it is compatible only with the Nokia 6110 Navigator, Nokia 6290, and the Nokia 5700 XpressMusic devices, however the guys at the Series 60 Multimedia blog report compatibility with the N93, N95, N76, and E90 (check the discussion thread).

All About Symbian also has a nice write-up of it and another comment thread.

There’s a thing in your pocket…

As part of Melting Pot Month in the N-Gage Arena, we’re challenging you to create a humorous caption for the picture below. Successfully submitting a caption will earn you ten points on the Game of the Month Scoreboard, while the funniest caption will get an additional ten points at the end of the month.

Here are the guidelines for this activity:

  • Stay on topic! Only post caption entries on this thread, not general N-Gage comments.
  • Keep it clean! All comments on this blog are moderated, so no profanity or user-bashing.
  • English please! Your Melting Pot Caption Contest entry needs to be in English.
  • Sign with your Arena username! Otherwise we can’t give you credit.
  • One per customer! You can only enter once, so make your first shot your best one!

And here is the picture to caption:

That’s it! To submit your caption, just hit add a comment.

SAMPLE:

Soldier 1: “I can’t see my legs!”

Soldier 2: “I’m calling someone who cares.”

Submitted by ikona

As the captions are approved, they will be posted, and each Monday an updated list of successful caption submitters will be updated on the scoreboard.

At the end of the month, we will choose the funniest web caption. That user will then receive ten additional points towards the April 2007 Game of the Month Melting Pot activity.

Have fun!
