Ask Gameloft
As part of an upcoming special event focused on Gameloft titles, we’d like to give you the opportunity to put questions to a representative Gameloft, one of our third party publishing partners on the N-Gage platform.
So if you have any questions about individual Gameloft games, the company’s future efforts on the N-Gage platform, or general questions about Gameloft and mobile gaming, please add them here as a reply to this post. Gameloft titles for N-Gage include Asphalt 3, Brain Challenge, Block Breaker Deluxe, Dogz, Brothers in Arms, and Midnight Pool.
We will go through the questions, sort them and edit them, and submit them to Gameloft as part of this upcoming event.
Thanks in advance!
Update: The Questions period is now closed.

Do you have any plans on using the Game Extras feature available in the N-Gage application to expand your games, e.g. adding more tracks or cars to Asphalt 3 or more maps for Brothers in Arms? How about patching i.e. bug fixing?
April 17th, 2008 at 11:31 am
So any further plans? maybe some titles? im the great NBA fan , I like NFL too but i got Fifa.. 07, 08.. we got enough for soccer fans. I hope there will be NBA 2009 on ngage platform instead of Fifa 09. Dont even think about Fifa Football Manager! hehe. Plus put there some more action. And its not about graphic but the game itself. I prefer good 2d games (i played few games - but java ones) than crappy 3d ones. So we are waiting for something exciting. DOn’t try to release something in a hurry- we’ll wait - but make it perfect.
April 17th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
Are you sure you want to ask me to do this? How much editing do you want to do?
April 17th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
when will be the final date release for the gameloft game ‘Brother in Arms’?i seriously cant wait.thanks.
April 17th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
Does Gameloft have any plans to use the accelerometer for controlling games? Also any plans for games restricted to phones with the 3d chip?

Question for Gameloft:
- What are your plans for being able to work in multiple mobile platforms ? I can see JavaME, Brew, native Symbian, Android, MacOS/iPhone, native Windows Mobile… so, what is a priority?
- Lately, we are seeing some examples of companies “cheating” the carrier’s “walled-garden” and delivering content direct to the users. Apple will do that, Nokia is doing and so on… Do you have any plans to go into this direction ?
Thank you guys for this opportunity.
Cheers,

Are you going to release any shooters for N-gage? Maybe Ghost Recon? Your GR for original N-gage was amazing! We do need FPP for N-gage 2.0!
April 17th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
No need to do a ton of work Game Hunter, choose your two or three favorites.
April 17th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
i want gameloft to release real football and manager mode with ngage arena and multiplayer mode.gameloft should know that if they add multiplayer mode in sisx or in java the games become more intresting to play.and people love playing with real oppnents than the artifical difficulty levels which we get bore after sometime.
April 17th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
i have request for gameloft to release crazy campus game.i think the java version was one of the best game i had ever player.i think gameloft should release crazy campus with high graphics, bigger storyline.i think gameloft should not compromise with any kind of graphics.i dont mind if the games are more than 100mb.so if you are makeing any game make it the best
April 17th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
the game asphalt 3 3d was one of the worst games for ngage.the previous asphalt games were so good and were made in 2005.no progess from 2005 to 2008.why dont gameloft add the shadow(flood)effect when we use nitro.also no multiplayer mode.its same like the java version.please gameloft make a new asphalt 3 3d game again with higher graphics, great storyline like the previous version of ngage asphalt.thankx
April 17th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
hi, will gameloft make any ports of classic games like prince of persia or rayman for n-gage? This would be great because sidescroll jump’n runs are very great! Next question is: will you give us more of the midnight games like midnight pool? Last question is: are you guys now focosed on n-gage and s60 games or on java? Thanks
April 17th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
Why are you going backwards and $%#& up every game (see Asphalt 3)?
April 17th, 2008 at 11:56 pm
Is Block Breaker Deluxe going under some special devolopment? Seeing as you havent re-released it yet.
Also, can you add a Track Records leaderboard to Asphalt3? And change Brain Challenge rankings to something more interesting than just point pickups?
Will we have Online Multiplayer in Midnight Pool? (Dont make the same mistake Glu did with WSOP!)
Will Brothers in Arms be more of the hardcore shooter for “Seasoned” players or will it be “Noob friendly”? Or have you planned multiple difficulty levels for it?
Is Dogz going to interest me in any level? I’m not really into pet games, although some casual games like Brain Challenge and Creatures of the Deep do grab my interest.
What can we expect from future titles? What games will we see from Gameloft from now to summer?
April 18th, 2008 at 12:00 am
One more question: Have you (Gameloft) planned anything of making updates to your games, like you see games getting updates (New tracks etc) on X-Box Live? If so, will the content be free or cost me a buck or two?
April 18th, 2008 at 1:02 am
when will be the final date release for the gameloft game ‘Brother in Arms’?
April 18th, 2008 at 1:03 am
Yea I want GHOST RECON TOO!
April 18th, 2008 at 4:01 am
It would be great if you could make some good 3d HW acelerated third person game like Splinter Cell, Assasins creed maybe? But please don’t make just a clone of DS games, dot it for n-gage, do it good and please use the possibility of 3D HW accelerator finaly!!!
April 18th, 2008 at 4:11 am
Hi!
Why dont you use vibro-fiture in a game? I need to feel reality of colision in Asphalt3!
April 18th, 2008 at 6:24 am
What do you think is needed in a game to make it both a critical and public success, would you say it more on innovation in the game or something that’s tried and tested but is know to have good game play?
Also how risky do you plan to be with the N-Gage platform? Are you guys planning to take some risks to do something innovative with the hardware/software that is different hasn’t been tried before and might have a chance of failing completely?
We’re heard lots about RedLynx work on the infamous project white rock. What is your opinion on the matter?
Are you planing any MMO games? Do you believe they would be successful given the fact that the N-Gage platform is based highly on the community aspect, or would you rather play it save and add a few multiplayer aspects to your games?
April 18th, 2008 at 6:30 am
- Do you plan any game using 3D accelerator? Let say in a year.
- What kind of games do you plan for n-gage and in which direction you want to evolve (maybe some MMO?:-)
- Curiosity: how development process for n-gage looks like and is it different from development for other platforms (native S60, etc., not only Symbian)
April 18th, 2008 at 9:32 am
To Gameloft:
Have you any plans about Rayman or Splinter Cell for new N-Gage platform?
April 18th, 2008 at 9:41 am
Does Gameloft plan to do anything other than port old games to the N-Gage?
What sort of value do Gameloft’s N-Gage releases have when they cost more than the Java games they’re ported from and are asset identical?
Why has Gameloft gone from being one of the premiere content suppliers on the original N-Gage to the joke they are at present?
Do you feel it’s a better use of resources to shovel 10 low quality games or release 2 high quality ones?
Does Gameloft intend to develop it’s own IP or will it continue to live on Ubisoft IP?
How does Gameloft balance the need to release for bottom line concerns against the desire to offer really great platform specific content and how will this affect the N-Gage releases we get as we move forward?
What does Gameloft believe makes the N-Gage platform great and how do its releases make use of these characteristics?
When developing a title for the N-Gage, what do you consider to be the minimum feature set? Should that include online options?
Will you support online play over WiFi connections?
Will you support hardware acceleration for phones that have the chipset?

Are you planning to produce 3D games?
April 18th, 2008 at 12:45 pm

April 18th, 2008 at 4:19 pm

April 19th, 2008 at 4:01 am
Real Football 2008 - great game, but a shame it can’t be played on the Nokia E90’s internal screen - any plans for this to be do-able?
April 19th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
Gameloft java games are great…well most of them but you guys need to optimize the code to make the game run at an optimal fps for all the phones you’re making the actual game…not just test the game on the latest phones and assume that its running the same on all other phones…some are playable but others are just crawling (block breaker deluxe 2 or the latest snooker game come to mind amongs others, especially racing games) i play java games from other makers and they run great…so please take the extra time and qa the games better. Just my two cents…thanks for the opportunity to talk to g@m3loft.
