The most iconic mobile game in history is back! Head on over to the N-Gage showroom and download the free trial version.

You can also read the first game reviews. Here’s a little bit of what they had to say:

N-Gation
“The multiplayer aspect of the game sounds promising, there’s the rankings which are standard in nearly all N-Gage games and then there’s the races/Battles which can feature up to 1-4 people across the N-Gage Arena in Real time.”

All About N-Gage
“One of the best things about Snakes is how it makes all the complicated features above accessible even to casual gamers. Snakes has a very, very gentle learning curve.”

Pocket Gamer
“You play as a snake, slithering like a pencil over a grid of squares. Naturally, you’re confined to the grid’s two axes, although the grid itself extends to three.”

What did you think of Snakes? Did you agree with the reviewers? Have you tried the multiplayer option yet? Let us know!

More Props for Reset

GameRevolution.com is featuring Reset Generation as the lead story on its website. Here are some choice quotes:

“This has got to be some kind of a first: Game Revolution, covering ‘mobile,’ or cell phone, gaming — dogs and cats, living together, mass hysteria…

“But the news is simply this: Here’s a mobile game that aims to truly be the equal of its PC counterpart, and one aimed even at gamers of an old-school, arcade-generation mindset…

“Frankly, some of us here at GR have traditionally never given half a rat’s @$# about most mobile gaming — you may have noticed the utter lack of that kind of coverage, up until now — but Reset Generation looks like it could change some of that.”

Read the full preview here, and also be sure to check out the Game Revolution podcast (right click to save to hard drive) which also talks about Reset Generation, from about minute 20:00 on.

Next Generation has also posted up some excerpts from the recent EDGE article that first revealed Reset Generation to the world. Here’s a snip:

“Its characters are parodies of the most familiar videogame tropes — a plumber, a hedgehog, an elf, a blocky alien spacecraft. It hinges on the basic aim of having your avatar capture your opponents’ princesses and return them to your castle. It involves special powers and item drops. It features a soundtrack of crazed C64-style music with track names like Nin10do Raver. It asks you to drop Tetris-like blocks on to the board to form ‘combos’.”

Nokia N95 Review

All About N-Gage takes a look at the Nokia N95 as a gaming device and finds it the best one around. Here’s what they had to say:

“If you’re in the market for an N-Gage phone right now, the N95 would be our current recommendation. You may also want to consider its cousin the Nokia N95 8GB, which has a larger screen and multimedia/gaming buttons that are raised from the surface slightly.”

Statement About Game Transfers

Recently All About N-Gage posted a story regarding the ability to transfer games from one N-Gage compatible device to the next. We have since issued the following official statement regarding this issue.

We have noticed a number of media stories about N-Gage game transfers and wanted to clarify the issue. Due to copy protection, N-Gage games, like most mobile games, are linked to one device. As the value of content increases, a robust copy protection mechanism is essential as it makes it possible for the games industry to invest in N-Gage content.

We acknowledge our customers’ concerns and have been working on a solution that would allow people to transfer purchased N-Gage games to a new Nokia device. We are working with our Nokia Care Centers with an intermediate solution to enable the licensed transfers of games until a final solution is ready to be deployed.

We apologize for the confusion around this issue and look forward to delivering an appropriate solution to transfer purchased N-Gage games to new Nokia devices.

Mile High Pinball Reviewed

Pocket Gamer have chimed in with their review of Mile High Pinball for the N-Gage platform. They give a good overview of the different play modes and the power-ups. Here’s a snip:

“Power-ups are plentiful and varied. Some simply boost your points, cash or the damage caused by your ball, while others trigger slow-motion, turn your ball into a rocket that shoots up, block the bottom of the screen to stop your ball falling down, make a shop appear on demand, and a host of other effects.”
