N-Gage Today

Hello gamers, it’s a beautiful day for play, and for rounding up N-Gage news.

• First up the “official” N-Gage news. I have received a mysterious tip that a certain Dr. Mordecai Egan has quite an extensive blog regarding alien abductions and visitations. Normally such matters are handled by Nokia’s Crashed Saucer Recovery Unit, and not the N-Gage Blog, but I’m told the man is associated with the Space Impact project in some manner, so perhaps this requires further investigation on your part.

• In other news, The Great Gameloft Giveaway is still in full swing this week, so jump on in and play a Gameloft game for your chance to enter fantastic prizes. Operators are standing by.

Next up, Tzer2 on All About N-Gage has posted up some N-Gage related videos, including the Human Snake viral, the Making of the Human Snake Viral, and what looks like (and I’m only guessing, first time I’ve seen it) an N-Gage tribute from our test department.

• All About Symbian wants to know what N-Gage games you’re looking forward to, so they have a new poll up. With close to 200 votes already in, Star Wars and ONE are in the lead. No sign of Project White Rock on the list, although it will be unveiled at a press event this Friday.

• Symbian Guru has posted a two-piece post about Nokia, the N95, and some of its competitors: “What are the next challenges for Nokia? Software, software, software, that is the first and biggest challenge.” Check out parts I & II here.

And finally, N-Gation has posted up its review of Electronic Arts’ Tetris for the N-Gage platform, nothing: “My first impressions for the game were great nother Tetris game? Soon as that downloaded and installed – My mind was completely changed. It’s a fantastic game.”

Block Breaker Deluxe and Tetris Released

Good morning N-Gage fans, it’s a beautiful day  here in San Francisco and what better way to start the day than to celebrate the release of not one but two more games for the N-Gage platform.

Block Breaker Deluxe

Block Breaker Deluxe is a classic and well-known arcade brick-breaker game revisited in a hyper-trendy graphic style with a fun and original atmosphere and a catchy storyline.

Tetris

Tetris is on N-Gage! Block your opponent’s efforts to clear lines. Race a two-minute clock in Ultra mode and try Forty Line mode, clearing 40 lines as fast as you can. With great new play modes including Clash and Challenge, Tetris takes mobile fun to the next level.

Both games should now be available on both the N-Gage application and on our website Showroom. If you don’t see them on the web immediately, try clearing your browser cache.

Have you played the free trials yet? What do you think?

Block Breaker Deluxe 78/100

All About N-Gage has posted its first review of N-Gage game, this time Block Breaker Deluxe. They give it a 78/100 overall, noting:

“Block Breaker Deluxe is one of the cheaper games available on N-Gage, and at 7 euros it’s not going to break anyone’s bank. If you enjoy Breakout/Arkanoid then you will definitely enjoy Block Breaker Deluxe. It’s also a very casual game, with a nice relaxing feel to it.”

They weren’t able to help me past this one boss level I’m stuck on though :)

Tetris 8/10

Next up, Pocket Gamer turns its attention to Tetris:

“The reason to shell out £6 on N-Gage Tetris isn’t the game modes. It’s the connected aspect, which sees you posting your scores to N-Gage Arena, then finding out how you compare to the world. It’s a simple feature, but one that will double your compulsion to play this already super-addictive puzzler.”

System Rush: Evolution 8/10

We end today’s trio with another review from Pocket Gamer, this one about the breakneck racer System Rush: Evolution:

“Superb, strongly structured racer that looks incredible, sounds great, and works seamlessly online. Many will wish it were a bit easier, though.”

So that’s what they think. Now it’s your turn, how would you rate these games?
