Get Ready for N-Gage First Access
Hey everybody, we are rolling out N-Gage next week!
Those of you who have a Nokia N81 or N81 8GB will have exclusive access to the pre-release version of the N-Gage application and one or more N-Gage games!
At the same time, we’ll open up our N-Gage First Access forums, where you can give us your feedback on the experience, make suggestions, and help us co-create the N-Gage games service.
So be sure to check back next week, when N-Gage First Access begins.

Thats disappointment for N-GAGE FANS like me
.I dont own n81 &I dont think any of the heroes of old ngage owns.so from who will u collect feedbacks? & any word on when will we see the complete next gen ngage launch?
December 13th, 2007 at 11:24 am
This is quite dissapointing, as most of the CMP winners prolly picked N95 8GB or N93i. Well, meaby we will see the N-GAGE arrive to other devices soon after the N81 launch.
Anyways, I’m getting the N81 8GB tommorow. Can’t wait! Now, I wonder what games we will have at the launch?
December 13th, 2007 at 11:42 am
So the big launch we’ve all been waiting for is a PRE-RELEASE version that works on 1 PHONE and will have 1 GAME????
Is this some sort of joke?
December 13th, 2007 at 11:42 am
But when you say “next week” - what day do you mean?

To those who got it wrong:
Last week, when Nokia said they’ll release N-Gagae in the following weeks, they prolly didn’t mean it goes on all devices at once. They are giving us this special pre-release to N81/8GB to gain feedback IMO. Why? Because if ANYTHING goes wrong, they have a better chance of fixing and testing it, like if the servers crash for example. I think of this as a sort-of-semi-beta-test-but-we’re-actually-live-phase. It might prove to be a smart move, as the N81/8GB has sold like hotcakes! The other day I went to a phone shop and asked a few questions regarding getting a new contract with a N81 8GB and phone number transfer from my old one, and he was like “Let me check. Yeah, we still got a FEW N81’s here, but not the color you want.”
Anyways, I think Nokia is planning this quite carefully, first by testing the service live with N81. Could be just a week after and we get the other phones live!
Well, to those who don’t have an N81, I can give a review how the new N-Gage works when it goes live, as I’m getting the N81 8GB tommorrow! Good night Arena bruddas! And possible sistahs!

What about N70 and N80 cellphones? N80 can join new n-gage platform?
Don’t cut our hopes!!
Support old Nokia telephone because Iphone arrives and eat all!!!
December 13th, 2007 at 3:24 pm
A lot of us here remember the disaster that was the original N-Gage’s launch in 2003. That went wrong for many different reasons, but one of the biggest reasons was that they launched before they were ready. There were no first party games, the Arena didn’t work globally, and the best games didn’t arrive until a year later, by which time the N-Gage was ignored by the gaming world.
If Nokia want to take a while extra to get this launch right, that’s a much better thing than repeating the disaster of 2003. I’m not happy about them constantly altering the launch date, but I’d be less happy if they launched a broken service.
By the way, Luke, N70 has the wrong operating system version (S60 2nd Edition instead of 3rd Edition), and N80 has the wrong screen resolution (352×416 instead of 240×320). The only way N-Gage can work is if all the phones have certain similar standards, otherwise it gets too complicated to develop games and the third party publishers will stay away.
December 13th, 2007 at 4:00 pm
I really don’t see why the N95 is excluded for the pre-release. Ok, I understand that the gaming device N81 comes first, but the N93 and N95 are the first 3D hardware excelerated phones… So I think the N95 n-gage application should at least be launched that same week. We are with far many users than the N81…
December 13th, 2007 at 4:56 pm
I’ve almost given up on ngage 2
December 13th, 2007 at 5:43 pm
This is great, long awaited news! Thank you Nokia for the perseverence, and thank you to all the N-Gage loyal old and new fans for their patience. Let’s get it right, and let’s have fun.
December 13th, 2007 at 6:18 pm
Huhu, i m uzing N92
How 2 play N-gage Games??!!!!
Nokia ’s said that all N-series devices can play N-gage Games in 2008.
What ’s up!???
December 13th, 2007 at 6:44 pm
[…] this service will only be made available to N81 owners, with a client and at least one new game sometime next week as claimed. Too bad […]
December 13th, 2007 at 7:07 pm
For the N95, you can update it so it would support N-Gage. CMIIW, the free game is Creatures of The Deep, and it’s bundled into N81.
December 13th, 2007 at 9:23 pm
This means a further delay. How bad! Come on, at least you could have given the pre-release to all the compatible handsets. I don’t see any point in promoting the N81 so much (if it’s not a REALLY BAD phone). They are going to get the first flavor of the N-Gage platform and then, a free version of Creatures of the Deep!
December 13th, 2007 at 10:13 pm
For those complaining about N81 being the first to test launch, I don’t think you need to get upset about it. After all, your phones are going to “support” gaming thru Ngage, but don’t forget that N81 is a “gaming phone” with buttons exclusively designed to play games. Of course Nokia is going to start with the phone which has the gaming platform and hardware already built in when you purchase it–it’s that and the music that people are (hopefully) choosing to buy an N81 for.
Any company, including Nokia, will reward the customers who are purchasing the latest devices first, and support older devices second, especially when the newer device is the current flagship gaming device and they are launching a new gaming platform…doesn’t seem that hard to understand why!
December 13th, 2007 at 10:22 pm
Looking really forward to this, bought a Nokia N81 this week and loving the phone!
December 13th, 2007 at 10:28 pm
WAIT A SECOND!
I think we have a serious case of misunderstanding here!
Hell, even I misunderstood this post!
OK, let me quota:
Ikona:
Hey everybody, WE ARE rolling out N-Gage NEXT WEEK!
Those of you who have a Nokia N81 or N81 8GB will have EXCLUSIVE access to the pre-release version of the N-Gage application and one or more N-Gage games!
Back to me:
So what is ikona saying here? “We are rolling N-Gage out next week” claerly implies all phones.
“You who have an N81/8GB will have exclusive access to a pre-release” sounds to me that the N81/8GB users get it a few, meaby 3 days early.
“and one or more N-Gage games!” Yeah, I kinda misunderstood that, but now when I re-read it, I understand whats hes saying: He is saying that N81/8GB owners will get a FREE N-GAGE GAME! OR MORE depending how they ranked the CMP! So that means I will be getting 2 free games ( I ranked in between 40-50), and the top scorers who picked an N81/8GB will get 3 free games!
December 13th, 2007 at 11:02 pm
Great!!!!!!
December 14th, 2007 at 12:49 am
Yeah, wazzup with the info… that N-Gage start THIS week … not NeXt?

December 14th, 2007 at 2:20 am
cant wait to get the prerelease. I think it makes sense to test it with limited number of users first. Like Google. And i have n81
December 14th, 2007 at 4:41 am
Genny Says :
“I relly don’t see whay the N95 is excluded for the pre-release. ”
Whay ? ansfer is one.
If someone want’s to boy N95 /n95 8gb Vs N81 / N81 8gb they will read artic on the net - And ther is only One Asfer BUY N95 - N95 8gb - n81 - Dont sell as they expected.
? ( hack crack and Enyou ).
That they pust 1rst game on the n81 - and more - Whay you thing that Game from N81? will not work in N95
December 14th, 2007 at 6:02 am
I think, if they leave the non-81′ers hanging over Christmas, that would be… disgruntling.

Hmm, here in the U.S. All of the currently supported ngage phones arn’t offered by our carriers, which sucks. But well, the only phone they offer in the N series at all is the N75…
I’m sure you can buy the others, if you want to dish out $500+, but most people go through thier carriers for new phones.
speaking of that i do have the N75, any idea if that’ll get supported anyone?
December 14th, 2007 at 10:16 am
I can’t really understand what they mean by supporting N81 firstly, I mean N-gage is just a program for s60 3rd that communicates with the Nokias network N-gage services so if N81 would be capable to use this program than the rest of S60 3rd phone will be too.
December 14th, 2007 at 10:39 am
The N95 is the real N-Gage! The N81 is something other…its a music phone, it looks like a Samsung and when the realy goood 3D games are released, the N81 owners will look at a unsupported no-more-n-gage phone

According to news on www.electricpig.tv the new N-Gage will launch on Tuesday next week and the first few games available immediately will be The Sims 2 Pets, Brothers in Arms and FIFA 08.
December 14th, 2007 at 1:09 pm
As the N95-8GB owner, I must say I am sorely disappointed.
Not only we don’t get live messenger (like N95), we have to view the N-Gage page incessantly with the announcement “Coming in December” without the ability to download and play the games except for two brief demos.
sigh…
December 14th, 2007 at 2:14 pm
I have N73. When I can use N-GAGE?
December 14th, 2007 at 2:39 pm
I hope some games will be free (snakesub sonic?).
Or only in the launche monthe some games will be download for free.

Its good n new technologies will give us joy that we have spent with our N-gage.But i wish i would win or buy N81.
December 15th, 2007 at 1:38 am
wow, its sounding almost as good as i-phone did, until they said it wud use edge technology over 3g! Why only make it available on one handset! Shame on you nokia, connecting with urselves there!
December 15th, 2007 at 1:40 am
I think this is actually really good news since NGage is a free gaming platform for mobiles. So, we all should complain about it when we’ve seen it and not before. BTW, the N73, N80 and so on are using different versions of the Symbian OS compared to the N81. Maybe that is the reason.
December 15th, 2007 at 2:20 am
Well, the N81 is actually an expensive (over 1000$ (USD) here for the 8Gb version) and useless (2mp camera, no 3d accelerator) phone which is meant to be a cheap 250$ toy like the N-Gage QD, but is positioned as a high-end smartphone with a price over the N95’s. So, to prove N81’s “exclusiveness”, Nokia adds some features that you don’t see on other phones (gaming mode, sensor “Navi” key, N-Gage pre-release), but in the end these little things are not worth it.
The N81 is even a bigger mistake then an N-Gage QD, and i think the New N-Gage will be even more pathetic then the other one, ’cause it does include mostly casual games (even ONE: Who’s Next is easier then ONE - every game is made to be controlled either by joypad only or by two N81 buttons, to suit N81’s “exclusive” “new” gaming style, so they just _can’t_ develop hardcore games, it’s forbidden by the N81), and the range of games is far worse then what i’ve seen on the N-Gage phone in the beginning (well, i was not there in the very beginning of it, but there were great titles i wasn’t ashamed tp play even in 2006 (THPS, SnakeS), and great experimental games (Ashen), with good brands (Red Faction) (then it became even better, including Worms World Party and ONE, but i’m talking about the beginning).
I’m not saying that the New N-Gage is not worth anything at all, i’ll be getting Snakes Subsonic, CotD, and ONE: Who’s Next, but two of them - only because i liked them on the original N-Gage, they’re no new stuff. So in the end, only one actually new game IS worth it, and you N81 unlucky owners should be happy you get it.

December 15th, 2007 at 9:08 am
I’m disappointed to hear that there will only be a preview release for the N81 (for now anyway.)
Please expand to N73 users soon!
(Maybe I just misunderstood earlier posts and announcements… at first I thought new n-gage would launch for all compatible devices in November 2007… then December 2007… now it’s a very limited preview. But… while I was hoping to enjoy some n-gage games this holiday season, I would rather wait and have the new n-gage become a success if it still takes a few months!)
Still looking forward to playing System Rush: Evolution on my N73…

Whinge, whinge! Too bad, too sad to anyone who doesn’t own an N81. The gaming component is the only reason why I chose it over a standard phone. Um, the exclusive gaming keys, no wonder Nokia chose to release N-gage on it first. Duh. I can’t wait for it to be released. I’ve had my N81 for a coupla weeks and am hanging to download some full version games.
December 16th, 2007 at 8:52 am
In December all Systems (N-Gage Compitable Devises) will become the new N-gage Update. A good website for inside infos is N-Page.de its a German n-gagewebsite and n-gage-center.de (click next gen). Also i like projectnext.eu.

December 18th, 2007 at 11:59 am
hello Nokia?
December 18th, 2007 at 3:05 pm
i realy like this new ngage stuf.since iv had my n81,i cnt get enuf! However,i realy think nokia could put a bit more thought into designing their phones. like my n81 phone. Iv had alot of nokias, i wouldnt say this phone is the best! It feels realy cheap to hold. Its not the best looking either, and its huge. Ive had this phone from the day of release, and the sliding mechanism is already loose! Browsing the internet could be better, especialy now iv got the iphone. The keys are realy anoying. The play button is realy sensitive,so the phone starts playing music on loud speaker randomly.(which isnt nice when ur in a library, even when u have put the phone on silence.) the phone is also a bit slow! The screen could be bigger, especialy as its designed for gaming. Overall,my n81 is ok,and 4 the time being it gets quite a bit of atention from my m8s,but that is because it is new,and i am sure in a few months time,it wil b history. Oye, i 4got! The camera is appauling!(if thats how u spel it). I give the n81 6 and half out of 10.
December 18th, 2007 at 4:47 pm
Nokia should improve devices to make them more comfortable to play with. The only phones that are good in ergonomics for playing are the n93 and the n81, but n81 doesn’t have 3d acceleration. I suppose N95 and n95 8gb (mostly the second one) will be also confortable to use if the multimedia buttons were enabled.
In the future, all gaming devices should be used in landscape mode and include lateral buttons for “L” and “R”, like in gamepads and handheld consoles. Two buttons like in the n81 and those extra lateral buttons L and R would be more than enough for any game.
Also, I’m a user of an N93 and I’m still waiting for a firmware upgrade since last year. I hope there will be an upgrade for the n-gage final launch, as I have suffered lots of bugs
December 18th, 2007 at 10:29 pm

December 19th, 2007 at 3:33 am
Is it a joke?! When N-Gage Application will be avaliable for N81? We can’t wait!
December 19th, 2007 at 4:58 am
i really cannot understand where all the haters are coming from. Its like you don’t want n gage to succeed! Sure its annoying that we are still waiting for the platform, but why get into wars over which phone will be best for the job? Surely as long as the application works well and the games which come out are of good quality and work on your handset then thats the main thing? I’ve seen that the n73 can be picked up for under £100 now, and that with the phones going all the way up to the n81 and n95 level, there is a wide range of phones to suit peoples budgets. Even if some may be better than others, in the new year, nokia will surely release another half dozen ngage compatible handsets which will blow the current lot out of the water. As long as we can access the application and get our games, i’m sure we’ll all enjoy the platform and have a good time worrying about the things that really matter, like who is going to pwn the w0rld in pocket kingdom 2! (i really hope that there is a sequel!) peace out to all you guys, lets get in the spirit of this time of year and have a bit of goodwill to all. Come on nokia give up some christmas cheer!

This is impossibel, but N-Gage Mobil Portal and N-Gaga Arena is a big project. You can do your own Profil, like Xbox Live. That is amazing for a Mobilephone. The moste people want a good Phone, N-Gage is online a Software (with spcial Hardware).
Other Mobilephones can go Home, if N-Series Mobilphones show her multipossibels. I think Nokia & N-Gage is a wounderful dream for Gamers. The most Gamers love Nokias N-gage.
December 20th, 2007 at 2:13 am
and? someone already test?
December 20th, 2007 at 3:14 am
I agree with crusha. Why flame Nokia about this? Hell, this is better than just the thing that the application will support only one phone forever. The other phones will come in a few weeks, so just be patient. What I have heard is that the N81 was chosen for this “First Access” or “Public Beta” was because it is the most stable of the devices!
By the end of the year, we will have more games and phones gone live with N-Gage, so for now, just chill!
“But I have an N73/N93/N82/95!!!” Well boo-hoo *sarcasm*! The N-Gage is coming your way, fast I believe, so just wait! Nothing good can be made with rush! I didn’t see this much hate when GTA4 was delayed, and thats a lot more major thing than N-Gage!
Why don’t you people go send Rockstar Games a few angry emails to rush out GTA4, HUH?! Have them rush that out and it will disapoint you more than anything!
When Nokia finally releases N-Gage, well made, polished, and with sugar on top (so to speak), people might be all “What took you so long!?” for the first 2 weeks and after that they will be like “Thanks Nokia for this great product!”
So just sit put, shut up, and let the N-Gage devs do their work with their imminent deadline in peace!
December 20th, 2007 at 3:49 am
Nokia sucks. I cannot believe such a big corporation could not meet their own deadlines. And the N81 exclusive release is just offending.
December 20th, 2007 at 4:47 am
Well here we are nearly on the last day of the week and still no n-gage ? ? If they’re planning on releasing it in the next 24hrs I feel sorry for the support team who are gonna be rostered on over christmas.
P.S. Who do I talk to to get a refund for a wasted month on a contract seeing as there’s still no new ngage ? ?
December 20th, 2007 at 6:54 am

Why is it offensive to have a single phone release cutare? The reason i chose an n81 8gb over the n95 8gb was because the n81 was the model being targeted as the ngage 2.0 flagship model. It doesn’t surprise me at all that its the first device supported, this is the phone that a lot of people bought specifically for ngage. I could probably do with the 5 megapixel camera, the gps or the tv out that the n95 offers, but i went for compromise that the reason i wanted the phone was for gaming, so i went for the gaming phone. And as has been pointed out, huge corporations miss deadlines all the time. Vista delayed, gta 4 delayed, ps3 delayed. The list is endless. I just hope nokia have got it right when it releases. A free game download in the first week courtesy of nokia would be nice as compensation for the loyal fans who are waiting! Oh and joggin, where in the contract does it state that your service provider allows you access to ngage. Nokia have on responseability to your service provider for the ngage platform, whilst your service provider only needs to provide you with the ability to make and recieve calls. Its like asking nintendo for compensation that you can’t get a wii for christmas due to their production problems! Peace out x

My N95 has NGAGE Demo Software on it,
get Nokia Software Updater and look for version 20.0.015
if its not there (like in UK) Change your region code to EURO-1 and try again.
I just updated mine to find a nice little icon which Said NGAGE
Had FIFA 07 and ASPHALT 3 as a game demo.
