Nokia Keynote at GDC Mobile
It’s just been announced that Nokia’s Anssi Vanjoki will give a keynote address at this year’s GDC Mobile. The title of his talk will be: “Play with anybody everywhere — context, the new paradigm for game play.”
Some details on the talk from the GDC program guide:
Vanjoki will present Nokia’s move into context aware services and the impact that mobile devices are having on entertainment around the world and the role that N-Gage will play in evolving mobile games experiences and the industry.
GDC Mobile is a track within the Game Developer’s Conference focused on mobile gaming and entertainment. This year’s GDC Mobile takes place on February 18-19, 2008 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, Calif. during GDC 2008.

When will the n-gage application be ready for use?!
January 12th, 2008 at 3:44 am
Does “the role that N-Gage WILL play” mean that we won’t see the N-Gage app until after the keynote address is given!?!?!?!? The issues that have been found in the new N-Gage must be very serious to postpone its launch for months…

Hmm, it sounds like that could be an ideal place for nokia to officially launch n-gage. I think it’d be hard to present a keynote speech at a mobile conference if n-gage still isn’t released before hand. The questions might be a little embarrassing! Still it is a month away, so plenty of time to get the platform up and running, or to prepare some good answers to the inevitable questions about the delay!

when will n-gage start hosting games? Just dnt keep on displaying COMING SOON. It has become shameful on part of NOKIA
January 13th, 2008 at 1:36 am
expect a release date of march 15 nokia are waiting on some key games to give the new ngage platform a solid release base.
January 13th, 2008 at 3:11 am
i may be wrong but the initial release was to prove to the game companie that the platform was secure so that they would release the games to nokia but found they had some security issues that they are now addressing
January 13th, 2008 at 5:33 am
so wait, Nokia delayd N-Gage so we could have some of the good games at launch?
January 13th, 2008 at 8:07 am
if it guna take ages give us some more demos the ones i got a rubbish
January 14th, 2008 at 3:04 am
I can’t see them waiting till march just because they want some more games at release time as by then they’ll have to give away most of their games catalogue for extorting money out of people under false pretences
January 14th, 2008 at 7:12 am
oh nokia, this is quite frustrating nw, we were waitin for mths n nw postpone till march is realy more frustrating. . .
January 14th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
better wait for 7days, its more promising than any n-gage game
January 15th, 2008 at 7:54 am
are you waiting for duke nukem forever mobile?
January 15th, 2008 at 10:56 am
It is interesting whether Nokia will spend Ngage 2.0 kindly this year…
January 15th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Rumor is that the first game to actually be released will be a port of “Daikatana”…
January 16th, 2008 at 1:21 am
come on.
Release the N-gage platform now, especially the first acess for the N81,
the bug must have been really big if you delay the first access service so much.
Or has Nokia cancelled the N-gage platform? maybe….
January 17th, 2008 at 12:10 pm
Nokia SHOULD cancel the N-Gage platform. Nobody cares about it at all and it will fail again. Ask ANYBODY, whether in the games industry or not, and they will tell you that they couldn’t care less about N-Gage, if they even know what it is.
Usually when everybody laughs at your product, you move on to something else. I don’t see Nintendo releasing a new “Virtual Boy”. Why? Because it failed and they don’t want anything to do with that name again. So why does Nokia insist on bringing back N-Gage, which is the biggest joke of the games industry in the past 10 years (aside from Gizmondo).
January 18th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
nokia will you please give us some kind of date instead of leaving us all hanging! I check nearly every day to see when it’s going to be released. And i’m getting bored of it.
January 19th, 2008 at 10:38 am
Haha, Daikatana
Good one.
January 19th, 2008 at 3:15 pm
can we get at least a rough date for the ngage release?
cos atm no1 has a clue! gota have some idea on when it can be released!
January 19th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
whatever it is , we are waiting
January 20th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
“Play with anybody everywhere — context, the new paradigm for game play.”??? Stop playing with yourself Nokia and release the platform!
January 21st, 2008 at 4:20 am
Hey Ikona! Any news on the bug which delayed the December launch? I know you don’t want to fill us up with hope again if there is any chance it may be dashed again, but come on, please, any news would be appreciated right now, especially with people posting tentative release dates of mid March which have been heard from rumors. Please feed us some information, we are dying out here!
And Loggin, please remember that nokia has sold you a phone capable of playing N-gage games. They have not extorted money out of you, although maybe the shop where you got it from mis-sold you the information. You don’t see me suing Rockstar for buying an XBox 360 for GTA IV for the October 19 release date which didn’t happen. GTA IV is why I bought an 360 just like NGage is why i bought the N81. Both devices are so much more than that! We are all upset at the delay, but some of us are happy with the MOBILE PHONES that we have bought as well.
January 21st, 2008 at 3:21 pm
we only wanna read one news! the n-gage launch
January 22nd, 2008 at 2:48 pm
They woudlnt cancel ngage, thats just stupid..
January 22nd, 2008 at 4:52 pm
maybe everyone will shut up, and give people chance to finish n-gage development? Such a feeling you are only playing mobile games, go find some work
January 23rd, 2008 at 7:55 am
It’s stupid to cancel N-Gage? I hope you were joking. Do you know how much money it costs Nokia to pay all their employees every single day to work on this platform? They will never make back that money. Guaranteed. If they’re smart they WILL cancel it.
January 25th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
N-Gage should be released in time for Duke Nukem Forever.
ROFL
January 27th, 2008 at 11:13 am
we need more infos…
January 28th, 2008 at 3:41 am
Crusha my point is I already had a mobile phone, one that worked well and did what I wanted and cost me less a month to run than the N81 I have now, I bit the bullet an went for it only for n-gage, it’d be like you buying you’re 360 and being told you can’t play games on it just yet!
January 28th, 2008 at 6:11 am
i think my n95 will be well out of date by the time n gauge. Well hey. They neverbothered to put the name into the predictive text!
