The GDC Podcast is Here
During this week’s Game Developer’s Conference, a group of Nokia managers gathered in an undisclosed location to talk about the next generation of N-Gage.
The questions on this podcast came from you, the readers of this blog and members of the N-Gage Arena community, as well as Jon Jordan from Pocket Gamer, who acted as moderator. The discussion covered everything from N-Gage hardware, 3D chips, new games, and the N-Gage SDK and its roadmap.
Interviewed were:
- Jaakko Kaidesoja, Director, Play New, Nokia Multimedia
- Gregg Sauter, Director of Third Party Publishing for the N-Gage Platform
- Mark Ollila, Director of Technology & Strategy and Nokia Games Publishing
The podcast was recorded as an mp3 file, and produced by Karl Long, Nokia’s web/social media integration manager.

Ugh, I hate podcasts so much. Why is everything going the video/audio route today on internet when text is still the more superior/comfortable way?
Could someone be so kind and write down the important bits please.

I don’t know what is more embarrasing:
Nobody really knew which version of Symbian it ran on.
Mark couldn’t name a single Nokia game off the top of his head - he’s the Director of Nokia Games Publishing (and Jaakko called Creatures of The Deep “our fishing game”)
The overall feeling of ‘ho-hum’ that came through the entire interview. I’ve seen more excitement at a Sony keynote.
I don’t want to hear about platforms, devices, partners, brands and target consumers. I want to hear about mobile games.
Trip may have admitted to being a cockroach at GDC, but at least he talked about people having fun.

Hi guys
This is for the likes of “KAZOTOYO” who were waiting for the results of the Interview. I’ve made a text version of the interview in Podcast form, and it can be downloaded from the link below. It’s more than half complete, and is a little time consuming. I’ve been quite thorough with word for word conversion, and was not sure with who was speaking at a time. If people like it and want it completed, I wouldn’t mind getting it finished in a day or so. I know this kind of goes against the true meaning of a podcast but Like me I’m sure people were anticipating the results and can use it as a reference form.
I hope this is O.K with you Ikona, I don’t see my self doing this again in the near future.
(Karl here, sorry, I had to delete that download link because the amount of popups generated by the download host, a really good summary of the podcast can be found at all about symbian here)
