N-Gage Today
Fast and furious, here we go…
• Tzer2 over at All About N-Gage has put up a new editorial about the full potential of N-Gage. I thought that this was a good article because it serves as a reminder that we are still in the early stages of N-Gage, with only a handful of games as of yet, and no devices with the application pre-installed. Read the rest here.
• Andrew Podolsky over at 1up.com has posted his first impressions of the new N-Gage platform. He notes: “However, the N-Gage is clearly attempting to become the new standard-bearer for mobile gaming, and from what we’ve seen and played, we’re hopeful that it will find an audience this time around.” Have a read.
• And finally, I’ve been tipped off about a new blog (new to me, at least) covering the N-Gage scence. Called N-Gation, it’s put together by hOAx, whos is tossing up videos, reviews, and previews of N-Gage games as fast as he can get his hands on ‘em. Looks like good stuff so far, go ahead and give it a click.
Here are his reviews so far:
• Asphalt 3
• Hooked On: Creatures of the Deep
• System Rush: Evolution
• Brain Challenge
• FIFA 2008
• Space Impact Kappa Base
Have a great weekend everybody!

This is an apeal to any Nokia representative in the country of Nigeria - who might happen to be reading this blog.
Concerning the N-gage app.: it’s really all wonderful - there are several Nigerians here interested in it .
The problem is in the purchase: i have reported this also in the N-gage forums but still it doesn’t seem to be rectifiable - during purchase we are not given option to purchase through phone bill. We are only given option of payment through Credit Cards ( Mastercard,Visa,American Express,Dinners card and JCB).
This is because the three major Mobile Network Operators here - MTN Nigeria , Glo Nigeria, and Celtel Nigeria - do not support the N-gage game purchase system.
I was told to speak to my Network Operator about it - but it doesn’t seem Nokia Nigeria has any “friendship” with MTN or Glo Nigeria.
In fact other Nokia services under the Ovi umbrella ;like the Nokia Music Store ; don’t seem to have any presence in Nigeria.(It always redirects to the Music Store in the UK).
It seems more and more all Nokia does here( in Nigeria) is advertise and sell phones for profit.
Under Nokia Maps - we don’t even have a Map for Nigeria!! - which is supposed to be the most populate black country in the whole of West Africa.
All this is very shameful. If there are any Nokia Reps. reading this blog please look into this.
During the S60 Ambassador program that was held a few months ago through the internet- i was the only Nigerian making reports. When i was suppose to write about my discussions with other people (in my University) about S60. I could hardly start anywhere and had to report that the people here had no knowledge of the Symbian platform, the other services Nokia implemented (in other countries of th world) like the services under Ovi - i reported that this was all due to lack of “exposure”.
Please Nokia, do something in “Nigeria” more than just making profit from phone sales.
Thank you in advance.

Not Nokias fault if operators dont want to support N-Gage.
I thinks some operators, such as yours, are afraid that N-Gage will inhillate jave game sales. More like decimate (destroy 10% of something) java sales cos “dumb” phones cant run N-Gage. But in summer were getting a 200€ N-Gage device…

Hi David,
Thank you for the update and I will alert the regional manager for your area about your concerns. Like Shadowspawn says, operator billing does require both parties to agree. If credit cards and operator billing are not an option for you, is there another micropayment option you would recommend? Thanks!

As long as youre taking ideas, heres one for you:
Mobile Forums site. The regular forums do worke fine with my N81, but the are difficult to browse. Adding a forums tab to the mobile site would be cool. Ofcourse you need to login. And it could be linked to the main site, like the blog seems to be.
