N-Gage Today
Hello gamers, it’s a beautiful day for play, and for rounding up N-Gage news.
• First up the “official” N-Gage news. I have received a mysterious tip that a certain Dr. Mordecai Egan has quite an extensive blog regarding alien abductions and visitations. Normally such matters are handled by Nokia’s Crashed Saucer Recovery Unit, and not the N-Gage Blog, but I’m told the man is associated with the Space Impact project in some manner, so perhaps this requires further investigation on your part.
• In other news, The Great Gameloft Giveaway is still in full swing this week, so jump on in and play a Gameloft game for your chance to enter fantastic prizes. Operators are standing by.
• Next up, Tzer2 on All About N-Gage has posted up some N-Gage related videos, including the Human Snake viral, the Making of the Human Snake Viral, and what looks like (and I’m only guessing, first time I’ve seen it) an N-Gage tribute from our test department.
• All About Symbian wants to know what N-Gage games you’re looking forward to, so they have a new poll up. With close to 200 votes already in, Star Wars and ONE are in the lead. No sign of Project White Rock on the list, although it will be unveiled at a press event this Friday.
• Symbian Guru has posted a two-piece post about Nokia, the N95, and some of its competitors: “What are the next challenges for Nokia? Software, software, software, that is the first and biggest challenge.” Check out parts I & II here.
• And finally, N-Gation has posted up its review of Electronic Arts’ Tetris for the N-Gage platform, nothing: “My first impressions for the game were great nother Tetris game? Soon as that downloaded and installed – My mind was completely changed. It’s a fantastic game.”

Thank you for the blog’s entries recommendations ikona; I particularly liked Part II of “Did the N95…” in Symbian Guru, specially where Dotsisx identifies the “next challenges for Nokia”:
1. “Software, software, software, that is the first and biggest challenge”. I think N-Gage is a good effort for a specific target, I could also list a lot of interesting projects from research.nokia.com that would show how Nokia is seriously interested in this topic (R&D is the key!)
2. “The second one is mid-range S60 devices”, I think XpressMusic phones like 5320 shows Nokia’s interest in that challenge. That phone will also expand N-Gage’s current target.
3. “The third one is marketing”. Many people in these forums has that opinion and I find that in my country SE and Motorola are more popular than Nokia, I think that a more aggressive campaign could change that, Nokia here often has the label of “expensive phones” (I guess that people have not seen Vertu, hehehe).
4. “whether or not they should go for an ultimate device”. People never will be happy. Even if Nokia released Morph soon it would have detractors. I wouldn’t take this challenge so seriously, I guess that a phone with all the characteristics that Nokia is offering now in their phones would be expensive enough to be released better under the Vertu brand.
