Nokia World Video, the N97, Boom Blox & More
Games Chief at Nokia World
All About Symbian sits down with Jaakko Kaidesoja, head of our games program, for a video interview about the current offering and future efforts of N-Gage.
He confirms the Nokia N97 is planned as being an N-Gage device, discusses touch screens, muses over a subscription model for games, discusses Dance Fabulous, and more. Be sure to give these a watch.
The Nokia N97 Planned as N-Gage
Although it wasn’t mentioned in the press release and was downplayed by our marketing department, the Nokia N97 is planned on being an N-Gage device as shown in this publicly available sales sheet.
There are any number of thorough write-ups on the device online, including this one on All About Symbian.
Boom Blox First Impressions
Ani over on the S60 blog has taken a look at Boom Blox, the latest N-Gage game, and gives his first impressions.
“The concept is amazing and the application of physics with different levels is also super. This is the best part of the game as it keeps you glued to it. The game is good for play both in landscape and portrait mode. The controls are really simple and need no prior acquaintance as in the controls for Star Wars.”
Read the rest here, or try the game for yourself in our Showroom.
Mr. N-Gage in the Middle East
The Website 360east.com sits down with Gregory Horoupian, the manager of Nokia’s games business in Africa and the Middle East. They discuss the N-Gage effort in general from the perspective of someone not familiar with the platform, but also for those of you in those regions there is some interesting local information too.

Wow, N73 looks great and full funcunality. But its havent DVB-H? You cant watch TV on everywhere??? Nokia can build great Mobilephones, the Power of this Deives must be used for 3D Games, whit Touchsreen, Onlinegaming and more! Its a Mobilphone, usw GPS/ Microphone/ Camerafunctions for futuresting games! If i work for Nokia i think i use this killer Hardware to destroy Appel Iphone.

the N97 looks good, but please nokia dont take out the graphics chip like u did with the N96. you guys might not know it yet but game developers like us see gems like that as a dream to work with!! for 2009 im looking to start my own mobile games development company, i want to see more 3D hi quality games out there for mobile devices and i love the fact that Nokia and companys like polarbit are leading the way in making really great games on your mobile a true reality. i do feel we havnt as yet totally court the publics imagination, But we will get there. Dont get me wrong i think theres a big market out there for mobile games, But with support from companys like ours i hope we can help Nokia and other game developers to fully break this growing market and spark a fire of pick up and play in the consumers minds wherever they are be it bus train or car. Good luck Nokia for next year and keep the great games coming!!

i’m sure there’s some solution in development, with nokia there always is…
good luck in your development, and _make sure_ you’ll get some games to be published on n-gage someday.
