Welcoming the Nokia N82
As we promised when first announcing our roster of N-Gage compatible devices, we intend to continue adding new devices to our lineup on an ongoing basis.
So it is today, as we announce support for the Nokia N82, another Nseries device that will be capable of playing N-Gage games. The N82 has begun shipping this week.
No need for me to recount all the juicy details here — check out the official N82 page on N-Gage.com for all the details. There’s also a write-up on GSM Arena, and high-res photos are available in the Nokia Press Room.

Hi Nokia!
Which games will use the 3D accel. and what will be 3D accelerated. I just want to know because I’m curious and I also like to hear good news for my favorite N-phones
Can you give a list with 3D accelerated games?
Thanks!

dunno,I am a bit disappointed with n82.

Ljancho, it’s hard to say because Nokia keep changing their minds. I think at the moment none of the launch games will use 3D acceleration. They’ll be 3D, they just won’t use the 3D chip, because the 3D will be done through software.
Later games will use the 3D chip, when it becomes more common in N-gage compatible phones.

Thanks Krisse for the good answer!
I will be waiting for the next games to see the pure 3D then
I’ve just wanted to know if there are any 3D games yet so I can test some but it’s good for now.
The 2D isometric (as I know) games are best for the phone and I hope Nokia will create something like Final Fantasy for Super Nintendo or Playstation soon!

Ljancho, krisse already stated that there are 3D games that just dont use the HW accel.
Just like hte first gen N-gage didnt have HW accel.
But a Final Fantasy just for N-Gage seems nice. Hmm… Final Fantasy Tactics, anyone?

Ljancho, the games already are “pure 3D”, they’re not isometric. The 3D modelling is done through software rather than hardware, but it’s still 3D.
The original Playstation had lots of 3D games like Tomb Raider etc but it didn’t have any 3D hardware, it did its 3D graphics entirely through software.
A 3D chip is just there to make the 3D graphics smoother or more detailed. You can still do 3D without a 3D chip.
To show you what I mean:
Global Race (using 3D hardware)
http://nokiagaming.blogspot.com/2007/07/global-race-raging-thunder-for-s60-3rd.html
Asphalt 3 (using 3D software)
http://nokiagaming.blogspot.com/2007/11/asphalt-3-for-next-gen-n-gage-demo.html
The two games are pretty much the same, but Global Race has a higher frame rate because it uses the N95’s 3D chip.

I think this handy is GREAT!!!
BUT
NO LANDSCAP = NO FUN
NO BIG DISPLAY = NO FUN²
I belive N95 8GB is the best N-gage at time.

I have it now for review, and I gotta say the keypads are the low point here. The performance is pretty good, though N95 8GB is a bit faster. I think N82 is more suited for non real time games where accuracy of keypressing is not a factor, such as Sudoku, Poker, Pool, etc. It would be great if we can have gamepad accessories like Sony Ericsson did several years back.

n82 is having awosome graphics awosome 3d games i do know some people says that the keypad of n82 it is not good thats wrong because its small and space between keys like n95 n93 etc… its very big and that makes our to slip

Just a suggestion - what about the Nokia N800?
Surely its big, wide screen would be erfect for these sorts of games?

Kristian, a gamepad would be great, but now we’ve got Bluetooth and Wiimotes

Hi,
N82 has accelerometer which means that if you want to rotate the display of the phone(landscape) you only have to rotate the whole phone. And you can play 3D games with it - it has 3D acceleration.(and it’s full screen)
